This year, our month long challenge over the course of January will bring you three new pieces of harp music, through daily short teaching videos and access to the sheet music each day as we learn the next section.
The pieces of music have been generously donated by Lauren Scott, Ben Creighton Griffiths and Mary Dunsford, the last of whom is also our tutor on the videos! With thanks to Jon Borgia of Signal Film and Media for the film production.
Join us on any one of our starting days to start a new piece with us!
Piece 1 starts on January 1st. A fabulous arrangement by Lauren to get us fired up.
Piece 2 starts on January 7th. Lauren's more complex arrangement - we can't wait...
Piece 3 starts on January 14th. A funky offering from Ben to get us in the groove.
Piece 4 starts on January 22nd. Something different from Mary to round off our month!
TIP 1: These videos are designed to be watched with you at the harp, with your sheet music printed out. They have been made so that hopefully you won’t need to stop and start the video, just follow along as it goes through.
TIP 2: If you prefer learning by ear, or would benefit from having teacher support on your learning, enjoy the the teaching video and then go on to the playalong video to practice playing the extract at different speeds.
TIP 3: If you prefer learning just from music download the daily sheet music below, and then try it with the Playalong videos. The teaching video would give you good tips on fingering and technique though, so we do recommend it!
TIP 4: Sometimes the Playalong parts start with full speed, then a little slower, then slower still. Why not listen to the first, (following the music), play one hand with the little slower speed, then try two hands with the slower still... Other times, the Playalong parts start with the slowest speed first, so you can reverse the process!
Rest Day - Playalong to Ruff Reggae in full
