Young Harpists' Bursaries 

The Harps North West committee is delighted to invite young harpists to apply for the 2025 bursaries due to be awarded in September 2025. Applications should be submitted by the end of July 2025. The harpists who will receive a bursary will be announced in early September.

HNW offers bursaries to keen young harpists under the age of 19 on Sep 1 of the year of the application, up to the value up £400 per application.

Bursaries can be awarded towards the cost of harp tuition, harp hire and involvement in harp workshops / courses, purchase of an instrument or music.

Young harpists may receive a total of two bursaries within a five-year period but may not receive bursaries in two consecutive years.

Applications should be made by the parent / guardian of the young harpist and must include a testimonial from a harp teacher stating why the young person is deserving of this bursary.

Applications should be made to the HNW Convenor by 31stJuly 2025. The bursary will be awarded from 1st September. Please send the application form and teachers’ testimonial to the convenor - convenor@harpsnorthwest.org.uk.

Criteria for awarding the general bursary

Aged under 19 in 1st September in the year of tge award.

The harpist must be or become a member of Harps North West for at least the duration of the bursary.

The testimonial from the teacher should be convincing of the young harpist’s enthusiasm for and commitment to learning and improvement.

The HNW committee would like a short review of how the bursary supported the young harpist by the end of the year of the bursary.
