Those of you who took part will be aware of the vast amount or work that went into creating the Newvember Challenge. We are delighted that this has been give recognition by Epic Awards.
The Epic Awards were set up in 2010 by Voluntary Arts, an organisation that works across the UK and Republic of Ireland to promote, support and champion the voluntary cultural sector, and they celebrate the achievement of voluntary arts groups across the UK and Republic of Ireland, by recognising the skill, innovation and hard work that goes into their activities.
'EPIC' stands for Engagement, Partnerships, Innovation and Creativity.
"For Harps North West to be England Runner-Up for the Epic Awards 2016 is a true honour, and a wonderful reflection of the work that went into creating our Newvember Challenge. To be recognised for our efforts to embrace our internet age is very humbling, as we felt we were just taking the next natural step in reaching out to harp players and encouraging the playing of this wonderful instrument. We are very proud to be England Runner-Up, and grateful to Epic Awards for this recognition. It is a wonderful accolade that makes us want to go out and do more and more!" - Mary Dunsford, HNW Committee Member, and tutor on the Newvember Challenge videos.
Here is a great short video showing how our Newvember Challenge fitted the ethos of the Epic Awards:
